Best attendance software in 2027
Attendance software is the system that can answer, a week later, who was present, for which session, and whether anyone changed the row. A daily tick in a sheet answers that until the second site, the remote batch, or the payroll close. Then it does not.
WorkClave is Mecverse’s answer for that record. It tracks attendance and engagement for sessions, keeps an audit trail and approvals, and exports figures payroll can reconcile. It does not calculate salaries, file PF, or print payslips. Those stay in a payroll product. This page is the buying guide for the attendance half, including the tools a team usually already has open.

Connects to
These are the products this workflow actually touches. A mark in this row is a connection or a channel we set up. It is not a customer logo and it is not a partnership.
Google
Sheets are still where many offices keep the register WorkClave replaces.
WhatsApp
How a second site reports a missed punch or a reader that is offline.
Sits beside
These are products teams already pay for, or compare in the same shortlist. We are not claiming a native integration unless the sentence under the logo says so.
Zoho
Zoho People is a common HR file. WorkClave does not replace it.
Slack
Where “I forgot to mark attendance” gets typed.
Zoom
Remote sessions can be the attendance record. Zoom stays the meeting.
Google Meet
The other room a remote batch actually uses.
How the shortlist splits
| Product | Role | Best for | What to know |
|---|---|---|---|
| WorkClave | Mecverse | Attendance, session records, approvals, and a payroll export | The record payroll and a coordinator can both read. Pilot access. A customer on our homepage, SSK Company, describes it for attendance, leave, and workforce tracking. |
| Zoho People | Sits beside | The employee file many Indian offices already pay for | Keep it if it is the HR record. Do not buy a second HR suite only to mark who was in. |
| A door reader with no software | Sits beside | A punch at the gate | A reader without an export is a queue and a vendor portal. We install readers when the report is already defined. |
| A shared spreadsheet | Sits beside | A team of ten that still trusts one owner | It fails when two sites edit it, or when payroll asks who changed last Tuesday. |
What the record has to contain
A single “present” flag is enough for a classroom roll call and not enough for pay. The useful record is a session: a person, a start, an end, a status, and the team or batch it belongs to. Remote and hybrid work makes this obvious, because there is no door. Office work needs it too, the moment a shift crosses midnight or someone works a Saturday that the sheet forgot.
Approvals belong on the exception, not on every normal day. A missed punch, a manual edit, a day someone disputes. If a manager must tap approve forty times each morning, they will stop looking. WorkClave is built around that review: an audit trail of the change, then an export. The product page describes payroll-ready exports and approvals. It does not describe a full accrual engine. If your requirement is “carry 18 days of earned leave into next year with encashment rules,” ask us to confirm that before you treat this as the leave system of record. SSK Company, quoted on the homepage, says WorkClave simplified leave management for them. That is their report of using it. It is not a feature checklist.
How it sits next to tools you already pay for
Most offices already have a place for the employee: Zoho People, a sheet, or the payroll vendor’s own portal. WorkClave should not be a second master of name, bank account, and designation. It should be the place the attendance fact is stored, then exported. We do not claim a live two-way sync with Zoho, Keka, or greytHR. The connection we actually describe is an export your payroll run can read, plus standard biometric device logs when a reader is involved.
Google is on this page because the register often still lives in a Sheet, and because Meet is one of the rooms a remote session happens in. Zoom is the other. WhatsApp is how a supervisor reports that the reader at the gate is down. Slack is how a software team says they forgot to mark a day. None of those logos mean the company is a customer, a partner, or a native integration beyond what is written here. They are the tools the workflow already touches.
Readers, remote sessions, and a pilot
On-site, a fingerprint, face, or card reader can feed the record. Devices we install can hold a log without internet and sync later. If a reader is already on the wall, send the model. WorkClave supports standard device log formats, and the right answer is sometimes “keep that unit.” Buying a carton of new readers before the report is defined is how projects die in the lobby at 9am.
Remote batches do not need a door. The session is the record. Start with one site or one cohort. Compare a week of the export to the notebook you still trust. Then add the next batch. Hardware is a separate quote from the software.
What to refuse in a demo
Refuse a score that you cannot trace to a session. Refuse a vendor who will not say what the payroll export contains. Refuse a contract that bundles a reader, an HR suite, and a payroll filing into one login when you only needed the register. Refuse an integration slide that shows Zoho, SAP, and Slack logos with no sentence about what actually moves.
The test at the end of the month is dull and sufficient: can finance lock the period, see who approved the three odd rows, and export without retyping? If the demo never opens that screen, you are looking at a dashboard.
What changes in 2027
In 2027, do not sign an attendance tool that still cannot show who edited a row. Auditors and payroll clerks have run out of patience with screenshots. Ask for the approval on the exception and for an export that can be frozen for a period.
Also separate the products in the contract. Attendance, leave accruals if you need them, and salary calculation are three purchases. A suite that pretends they are one checkbox will be the thing you rip out when the payroll rules change and the attendance record was fine.
Questions
Is WorkClave payroll software?
No. It keeps attendance and session records, approvals, and a payroll-ready export. Salary calculation, payslips, and statutory filings stay in a payroll product such as Zoho Payroll.
Does it integrate with Zoho People?
We do not claim a live sync. Zoho People can remain the employee file. WorkClave is the attendance record you export from. Confirm the file your payroll run needs before you buy.
Do we need a biometric device?
No. Remote sessions are a record without a door. A reader is for a gate. Existing devices that emit a standard log can often be kept.
Who is the named customer?
SSK Company is quoted on the Mecverse homepage as a WorkClave customer for attendance, leave, and workforce tracking. The other logos on this page are not customers.
