One screen for the batch. The panel reads after.
InterviewRoom sends each eligible student the same spoken first round. Follow-ups are part of the interview. The record is a transcript and a score. Audio is not stored.
A 1,000-student drive, counted in hours
The numbers below are planning arithmetic, not a throughput certificate. They show where the recruiter’s afternoon goes. They do not promise that 1,000 students will finish inside a day.
| Manual first round | InterviewRoom | |
|---|---|---|
| Who sits in the interview | About 15 volunteers, each inventing a slightly different screen. | One rubric. The student speaks to InterviewRoom. The volunteer reads afterwards. |
| Time for 1,000 students | At 20 minutes of human time each, that is about 333 interviewer-hours, plus the scheduling. | Up to 25 minutes of the student’s time, on their own link. The cell’s time moves to reading transcripts, not dialing. |
| What is kept | A notebook that changes with the volunteer. | A transcript and four scores out of 5: clarity, specifics, structure, and bar fit. Audio is discarded. |
| A coding check | Whatever problem the volunteer remembers. | One short problem can be attached to the room. It is not a full online judge. |
What stands in for proctoring
A generic answer gets a follow-up. That is the control inside the product. Identity, a quiet room, and whether the student is eligible stay with the placement cell. Company names on the practice tracks are practice styles, not customers.
Same track, same seniority, same job description. Volunteers stop writing a new screen in the corridor.
Before a counted interview starts, the student is told the company will see the score and the full transcript.
The interviewer asks about the thin part of the answer. A rehearsed paragraph does not end the question.
Speech is transcribed and the audio is dropped. There is no facial analysis and no screen recording to request later.
What a placement cell asks
- Can a placement cell run the same screen for the whole batch?
- Yes. The cell sets the track once and sends a link to eligible students. Each hiring-team interview can run up to 25 minutes. Practice sessions, which do not count, run 10 minutes.
- Do 1,000 students finish in 24 hours?
- Only if the links go out and the students open them. InterviewRoom removes the recruiter from every call. It does not drag a student to the laptop. The cell still owns eligibility, identity, and the deadline.
- Does it catch students reading an AI answer?
- The interviewer asks a follow-up when the answer is generic. There is no camera, no screen-blur tracking, and no browser lockdown. A cell that needs proctoring has to do that itself. We will not describe a control the product does not have.
- Who decides the shortlist?
- A person. The score orders the reading. The transcript is what the company should see. A cutoff that auto-rejects is the wrong use of the score.
Freeze the rubric before the links go out
The campus setup, including what the company receives, is also on the placement-cell page. This page is the hour count.
